Wells, Vermont is a 30 minute drive to Manchester, 6 minutes to Granville, NY, 13 minutes to Poultney and 42 minutes to Rutland. It is also within an hour’s drive to New York State’s Route 87 (the Northway) and a little over an hour to Route 91 between Vermont and New Hampshire. Albany NY is 1.5 hours away. The major metropolitan areas of New York, Boston and Montreal are reachable in four hours or less.

Lake St. Catherine State Park in a 117-acre park offering an array of recreation for campers and day visitors alike. Enjoy a 61-site campground, nature center, two sandy beaches, a large grassy field including a children’s playground and snack bar concessions. You can get out on the water with rowboat, canoe, kayak, and pedal boat rentals. There is also a boat launch if you’re seeking a day out on the water fishing or water skiing on the lake. If you prefer to stay on land, there is a short hiking trail where you can check out all the Big Trees of Lake St. Catherine, and a breathtaking view of Birdseye Mountain.

Like to Fish?

Lake St. Catherine has excellent fishing for anglers of all skill levels. Panfish, largemouth and smallmouth bass, rainbow and brown trout, yellow perch and northern pike can all be found in the lake’s cool waters. If you’re lucky enough, you may also catch a glimpse of a white-tailed deer or even the occasional moose. There are also regularly scheduled nature programs at the nature center.

Amenities

The campground contains 50 tent and RV sites and 11 lean-to sites. Grassy open areas, wooded sites and lake access make this camping area very appealing with beautiful picnic areas, swimming, nature center, snack bar concession and canoe, kayak, rowboat, and pedal boat rentals.It is also equipped with restrooms, coin-operated hot showers, and a dump station.

Park Staff

Lake St. Catherine State Park has a park staff offering fun, hands-on activities. The park staff are dedicated to helping you learn more about the natural and cultural history of the Park. Some popular activities include night hikes, nature crafts and games, campfire programs and amphibian explorations.
